house to ourselves

My parents went on vacation today for a week, so DH and I have the house to ourselves for a bit (I feel like a teenager - house party!). It's nice to be the only adults in the family for a while, but then I am also glad when they come home. It's nice to share the cooking and cleaning, to have company when DH is bowling or working, to haev an extra pair of hands to watch the kids if I have to work, or to be able to play cards in the evening. Most people, when they hear that we live with my parents, ask us how we can stand it. Most people say that they could never do it. I have a great set of parents who enjoy our company but respect our privacy. It just works Smile
But, for this week at least, we have the house to ourselves!

    My MD has a dream of us all living in a "family compound". I think she just wants her dad to cook for everyone! I actually think I would like living in a mother-in-law type situation with one of my girls. I don't need a big house and I would love to live that close to grandkids, or anyway I think I would.

    We lived with my parents from the time I was 8 months pregnant with my daugher and had to be put on full time bed rest, until 2 weeks before Rose's first birthday. We had our own section of the house, 2 bedrooms, seperate bath, living room and kitchen that had been built on years before for my grandma and aunt who lived with us for several years. It was really nice, we saved enough money in those two years to buy our house. But DH and I both get along really, really well with my parents. I could not have done it with his parents, though I love them dearly, I could not live with them, and he wouldn't want to either.
