Life is good...

June 13th, 2006 at 02:24 am

A rambling inspired by lrjohnson's popsicle post ("Life is very good")...it's the little things that make life good.

A fruit smoothie Smile
A puppy napping at my feet
My two boys snuggled in bed after a long day playing outside
Making something out of nothing
A kiss from DH before he leaves for school
Playgrounds
The way ds1 signs "I Love you" to me as I leave for work in the morning, and the way ds2 bounces with joy when I return.

Notice there is no big screen t.v., mansion, luxury SUV, desginer labels, etc. on my list. It's is so important to realize your priorities. Then what you thought was a big thing becomes nothing. And some of those little things, like enjoying a homemade popsicle, become everything Smile

A challenge - what makes life good for you? Feel free to share - I'd love to hear! -or make a private list - just know your priorities Smile

(lrjohnson, I hope you don't mind!)

Life's good if I've got some alone time spliced in between all the other time when I'm never alone. I don't even want/need to be doing anything with my alone time. But, a good book, a glass of white wine and something classical playing in the background sounds like heaven to me.

Heck, I sure don't mind. The little things are great....thge little things are what we can have lots and lots of. I spent many of my years being ungrateful, and I work to not repeat that. Life can be so very good, and so very rich. I've been noticing that the less I spend, the more some things are treats....for example, one cold can of soda.....just one. Very rarely. As a treat. It makes it so much easier to appreciate. Wrote a whole rambling post on it.

A tidy house and a pile of books and a couch. My Guy's beaming smile. a garage sale find: perfect gift for a buck or two. Fresh fruit....almost any, almost any time. A grilled cheese sandwich. A bath. The smell of a lawn. Finding out you have baby birds growing up in your back yard. A abked potatoes with fat-free sour cream and a lot of salt and pepper. Putting on a line dried flannel nightgown. Making some weird food concoction and liking it. Popcorn. Kicking butt at work and coming home in mini-triumph. Reading blogs.

I like a pot of coffee and a free morning with the internet.

I have sure found that by NOT having the big screen tv, the mansion, etc...We do not need to work all those crazy hours and can enjoy the simple things...

When I was working all the time, I never would have NOTICED them.

Life is much, much sweeter when you jump off the instant gratification-got tohave the next big thing- rollercoaster.
